The rules

Terms
of use.

The straightforward rules of using this site. Editorial accuracy, what we are and aren't, intellectual property, the legal bits.

Your agreement to these terms

By using whatsincyprus.com you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. We may update these terms from time to time; the dated revision at the top reflects the current version. Material changes affecting subscribers will be notified by email.

Editorial accuracy and updates

We try hard to be accurate. We visit the restaurants, swim the beaches, and have our relocation content reviewed by Cyprus-licensed advisors before publication. We update content when it changes. Despite this:

  • Prices change. Opening hours change. Restaurants close. Beaches lose blue flags. Tax rates update. We can't keep every page perfectly current.
  • If we get something materially wrong, please tell us — info@whatsincyprus.com — and we'll correct the page with a dated note.
  • For practical decisions (booking a holiday, buying a property, structuring tax residency), confirm key facts with the venue/provider/advisor directly. We're an editorial publication, not a verification service.

This is not legal, tax, or professional advice

Particularly on our relocation desk, we cover topics that affect significant financial and legal decisions — property purchase, tax residency, immigration, pensions. Our content is editorial — explaining how things work, where the patterns are, what to ask. It is not:

  • Legal advice (we are not your advocate)
  • Tax advice (we are not your tax advisor)
  • Financial advice (we are not your financial planner)
  • Immigration advice (we are not your immigration advocate)
  • Medical advice in any form

For decisions that materially affect your money, residency, or wellbeing, engage a qualified Cyprus-licensed professional. We can introduce you to ones we know — this is editorial signposting, not advice.

Affiliate links and commercial relationships

This site contains affiliate links, sponsored listings, and editorial that may indirectly benefit our commercial partners. Specifically:

  • Affiliate links: when you click certain links to third-party booking sites (GetYourGuide, Booking.com, TheFork, etc.) and complete a transaction, we may receive a small commission. The price you pay is identical to going direct. We only include affiliate links to services we'd recommend without commercial relationship.
  • Sponsored listings: clearly labelled as sponsored; appear in a visually distinct treatment from editorial picks; placement is paid for but content remains under our editorial control.
  • Lead-gen referrals: for relocation services, we maintain a curated advisor panel. If you ask us to introduce you to an advisor and you subsequently engage them, we may receive a referral fee from the advisor. The fee is paid by the advisor, not by you, and does not increase your cost. We choose panel members on editorial standards, not bidding.

Our full editorial policy on commercial relationships is at /about#editorial.

Intellectual property

All editorial content on whatsincyprus.com — text, photography (unless explicitly credited otherwise), graphics, layout, and code — is copyright the publication unless otherwise stated. You may:

  • Read, link to, and share short excerpts of articles with appropriate attribution
  • Quote up to ~150 words in another publication with attribution and link
  • Print pages for personal, non-commercial reference

You may not:

  • Republish substantial articles or guides without written permission
  • Scrape the site systematically or use the content to train AI/LLM systems without explicit permission
  • Use our brand name, logo, or design elements without permission

For permissions, write to info@whatsincyprus.com.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any loss arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content is limited as follows:

  • We provide the site "as is", without warranties of accuracy, fitness for purpose, or non-interruption.
  • We are not liable for losses arising from your reliance on editorial content, particularly where we have noted that professional advice should be obtained.
  • We are not liable for losses arising from your interactions with third parties linked from our site (tour operators, hotels, advisors, etc.).
  • Our maximum aggregate liability is limited to €100 or the amount you have paid us (which, for most readers, is €0).

None of the above limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (e.g., for fraud, gross negligence, or under Cyprus and EU consumer protection statutes that override these terms).

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus. Any disputes arising from your use of this site will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Cypriot courts, except where you are a consumer and applicable consumer law provides otherwise.
