Cyprus in
February.
Carnival month — Limassol takes over, the weather turns, almond country in full bloom.
The weather, honestly
February is the pivot month. The sun strengthens noticeably, rain days drop into single digits, and by the last week you can sit outside in shirtsleeves at midday. Sea temperatures are still cold. The countryside is at its greenest in February — Cyprus does its spring in February while the rest of Europe is still grey.
What to actually do
If you want one event to base a winter trip around, it's Limassol Carnival. Ten days of parades, costume parties, and the city doing its loudest impression of Rio. Beyond that: hiking, wine villages, and the almond country south of Limassol in full pink-and-white bloom.
Events & festivals
- Limassol Carnival — Limassol. Ten days. The Grand Parade on the final Sunday is the big event — booking accommodation early matters.
- Almond Festival — Limnatis, Korfi. Continues from January through mid-February.
Where to go
- Limassol. Carnival central. Even if you skip the parade, the city has its best energy of the year.
- Krasochoria (wine villages). Best month to visit the inland wineries — quiet, owners have time to talk.
- Akamas. Wildflowers begin late February.
What to pack
- Layers, but lighter than January
- Walking shoes
- A costume if you're here for Carnival
- Sunglasses — the light is sharper than you think
Practical notes
Mostly the same as January. Limassol gets busy around Carnival weekend.
