Cyprus in
April.

Easter, the first real beach days, and the island at its most photogenic.

The weather, honestly

April is the month most locals say is best for a first visit. Highs of 23°C, ten hours of sun, the countryside still green, the sea warming. Rain becomes a rarity. Crowds remain manageable except around Orthodox Easter.

What to actually do

If you can be here for Orthodox Easter, do — it's the biggest event in the Cypriot calendar. Saturday-night services followed by midnight fireworks, Sunday afternoon spent eating souvla in someone's garden. Outside Easter week, April is perfect for combining sightseeing with the first proper beach days.

Events & festivals

  • Orthodox EasterEvery village. Movable feast. Holy Saturday night services and Sunday family lunches are the heart of the year here.
  • Anthestiria (flower festivals)Paphos, Limassol, Larnaca. Floats covered in real flowers, parades through coastal cities.

Where to go

  1. Paphos. The most photogenic month for Tombs of the Kings, Kourion, and the harbour.
  2. Akamas. Walking + sea — combine a Lara Bay walk with a swim if the wind's down.
  3. Limassol. Marina cafés come alive, sea is warm enough for short swims by month-end.

What to pack

  • Summer clothes for the day, a sweater for evenings
  • Sun cream — the UV is stronger than the temperature suggests
  • Swimwear
  • Walking shoes for the inland trips

Practical notes

Prices step up around Easter week. Some shops/restaurants close on Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday outside cities.
